Meet the Founder
K. D. Thompson, the visionary behind The FIDO Foundation, is a devoted animal lover, community leader, and compassionate advocate for families. Inspired by her own dogs, Chewy and Ace, K. D. launched FIDO to create a world where compassion meets action — and where no one has to choose between their well-being and their beloved pet.
Beyond her work with FIDO, K. D. is a proud wife, mother of four, and grandmother of two,
roles that keep her grounded and inspired every day. Her leadership blends heart and strategy,
drawing from years of nonprofit experience and a lifelong belief in the
power of empathy, inclusion, and community.

The FIDO Foundation is committed to serving the Omaha community.. We are a small volunteer-run organization and we are growing in to one of the most respected animal welfare organizations in the area. Our dedication to the well-being of animals is what drives us every day.

Community-Centered Approach
We focus intentionally on North Omaha and surrounding zip codes where pet and food deserts have created barriers to care. We build trust by showing up, listening, and tailoring
our programs to meet real needs.
Pet Reunification & Retention
Losing a pet shouldn’t mean losing hope. We help families reclaim their animals from shelters, access affordable resources, and prevent unnecessary surrenders — because every pet deserves to stay home where they belong.
Inclusive Partnerships
We believe compassion grows stronger through collaboration. By partnering with shelters, community centers, schools, and local advocates, we extend our reach and ensure inclusion
